EMCA4RJ Teaching Hacks

Please join us on the 28th of July at 2pm EST for the first of our ‘EMCA4RJ teaching hacks workshops’. This initial workshop is going to be focused on collaboratively finding and working with cases of EMCA phenomena in transcripts that you can use in your own teaching. Participants will be able to offer input on what the group looks for and will walk away with a folder of pre-prepared materials on whatever we choose to find. This will be a examples-focused exercise this first time where we are listening for and looking for actual instances that we can use in our own teaching.
This workshop will also be an opportunity for those looking to teach in EM and CA a chance to see how more experienced educators select materials and develop resources as the selection of materials will demonstrate how teaching is scaffolded at the undergraduate level in EMCA and LSI (e.g. what are interesting and yet simple ways to learn about a TCU based on an example?).
Thus this workshop is ideal for established educators looking to move away from the white legacy data of the 60’s and 70’s as well as for ECR’s and PGRs/PhD candidates looking to learn more about teaching.
