EMCA4RJ Learning Session
March 11, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm GMT
We will be reading together then discussing how racism and colonialism operate. The readings stem from multiple disciplines, including sociology, communication, social psychology, and postcolonial studies. The racism readings are US and UK-centric, and the colonialism readings will help us think about how racial inequality operates in different places around the world. As a group, we can interrogate similarities and differences among the authors’ conceptualizations, discuss how disciplinary orientations may inform approaches to race/racism, and draw connections between the readings and EMCA approaches to research/teaching/community building. Bibliography provided on email (please contact to be included).
