Welcome to the EMCA4RJ Data Library. This is a data repository for interactional data that collects together recordings of people from more diverse backgrounds than the ‘classic’ data often used as the basis for teaching (e.g. the Newport Beach corpus, Chicken dinner, Virginia, Game night, etc.). Specifically, it aims to collect together recordings of other-than-white participants, and/or interactions where race is made relevant. The goal of this dataset is to make a corpus for both teaching and research that broadens the analysis of interaction beyond white people. In using this data, you are agreeing to treat the data and participants in the data with the utmost respect.

You must register here to access the data.

This data repository welcomes more submissions of material, including scripted instances for demonstration purposes. Both clips and ‘raw’ (unedited originals or field recordings) are welcome. Recordings need to be cleared ethically for sharing and use among other researchers and educators.
